The Kalkitech Modbus Gateway is the protocol gateway that connects the most widely deployed industrial automation equipment in the world — Modbus RTU serial RS-485 and Modbus TCP Ethernet devices from PLCs, RTUs, inverters, power analyzers, and meters installed in critical infrastructures — with next-generation SCADA platforms, data historians, and cloud analytics systems that require OPC-UA as the standard interface.
The gateway simultaneously supports up to 32 Modbus RTU connections (RS-485 at up to 115,200 bps) and 64 Modbus TCP Ethernet connections, with capacity to map up to 5,000 Modbus registers (coils, input registers, holding registers, and analog input registers) to OPC-UA nodes in real time with configurable refresh rates from 100 ms to 60 seconds per tag group.
The web-based visual configuration tool allows the automation engineer to define the Modbus register to OPC-UA node mapping via drag-and-drop, without script programming or knowledge of the internal structure of OPC-UA. The automatic Modbus device scanner detects all accessible equipment on the network segment, proposes the register map based on standard device type definitions, and generates the initial configuration in under 30 minutes for a typical 20-device system.
