Kalkitech DNP3 Gateway DNP3 Protocol Gateway for SCADA
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Kalkitech DNP3 Gateway is the protocol gateway that allows electric companies to modernize their distribution SCADA systems without the massive investment of replacing RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) and field equipment speaking legacy DNP3, connecting them transparently to modern network management platforms such as IEC 61850, OPC-UA, and Modbus TCP.
The gateway translates in real time the DNP3 protocol from existing RTUs to IEC 61850 GOOSE/MMS for integration with modern substation protection and automation IEDs, maintaining all data objects, signal quality, and original timestamps without information loss. Bidirectional conversion allows control commands from the command center to arrive correctly formatted at each legacy RTU.
Simultaneous support for up to 256 DNP3 master/slave connections allows centralizing all field communications of a mid-size electric distributor in a single gateway rack. Web interface configuration without code with pre-built templates for the most common RTUs in the market (ABB, Schneider, GE, Siemens) reduces the commissioning time of each gateway to under 4 hours.
