Kalkitech IEC 61968 Adapter CIM/AMI Adapter for ADMS and MDM Integration in Smart Grids

The Kalkitech IEC 61968 Adapter is the Common Information Model (CIM) integration platform designed for electricity distribution utilities that have implemented multiple modern grid management systems — ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System), MDM (Meter Data Management), GIS (Geographic Information System), and OMS (Outage Management System) — but face the challenge of keeping these systems synchronized with a single source of truth for the electrical grid model, avoiding inconsistencies that generate fault analysis errors and operational decisions based on outdated data.

The adapter implements the complete IEC 61968 standard — including the Interface Reference Model message profiles for asset exchange (Asset Management), customer management (Customer Support), distribution operations (Distribution Operations), and work management (Work Management) — allowing each receiving system to receive exactly the CIM model updates that correspond to its role, without needing point-to-point integrations between each pair of systems.

The real-time data transformation engine converts the proprietary formats of the most widely deployed ADMS/SCADA systems — GE Grid Solutions, Siemens Spectrum Power, ABB Network Manager, OSISoft PI — to standard IEC 61968 messages and back, without requiring modifications to the source or destination systems. CIM model versioning with complete change history allows auditing which system published each model modification, when it was received by each subscriber, and detecting divergences between the models maintained independently by each system.
