Bitstream NTP Server — Stratum 1 NTP Server with GNSS for Industrial Networks and SCADA
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Bitstream NTP Server is the Stratum 1 time server for industrial networks and control systems that require UTC-traceable time synchronization with microsecond precision, but do not need the nanosecond precision of IEEE 1588 PTP. For SCADA systems in industrial plants, refinery DCS, utility EMS, and substation data loggers, Stratum 1 NTP with < 1 µs to UTC is sufficient for event timestamping and cross-system log correlation, at significantly lower hardware cost than a full PTP solution.
The multi-constellation GNSS receiver (GPS + GLONASS + Galileo + BeiDou) allows the Bitstream NTP server to maintain satellite lock under degraded sky visibility conditions. The internal redundancy combines GNSS lock as primary source with a precision TCXO oscillator as holdover source: when the GNSS signal is interrupted, the TCXO maintains frequency precision for more than 72 hours with < 1 µs/hour drift.
IEC 62439 certification enables use in critical industrial automation networks where time synchronization is a system design standard requirement.
