TS-3000 PTP/PPS Time Server

Bitstream's TS-3000 solves the strictest time synchronization requirement in critical infrastructure: IEC 61850-5 standard requires all IEDs in a substation to have time stamps synchronized to ±1 microsecond accuracy to ensure correct sequencing of protection events. If two differential relays act with one millisecond of desynchronization, the protection system may misinterpret the fault order and fail to open the correct circuit breakers — with catastrophic consequences in a 220 kV substation.

The TS-3000 acts as IEEE 1588 PTPv2 grandmaster, distributing sub-microsecond precision time to all substation network IEDs via Ethernet. The holdover function with disciplined oscillator guarantees that even if the GNSS signal is lost (jamming, antenna failure), the server maintains <1 µs accuracy for a full 24 hours — sufficient to survive any operational contingency without degrading electrical system protection.
