Tactical mesh radio for hostile environments
Applied in sectors
TrellisWare Technologies created the TSM (Tactical Scalable MANET) protocol — the most advanced mesh network architecture available for military operations in infrastructure-denied environments. Their TW-950 EVO and TW-200 radios form self-organizing IP networks in seconds, requiring no fixed nodes, central controllers, or pre-coordination. The signal propagates radio-to-radio, automatically rerouting traffic when a node goes out of range or is neutralized — without operator intervention.
The TrellisWare family covers everything from infantry combatants to vehicle platforms and UAV data links. The TW-950 EVO operates dual-band UHF/VHF with up to 45 Mbps throughput and over 5 km range in open terrain, simultaneously supporting voice, drone video, and position data exchange. The TW-200 Luna, at just 185 grams, integrates with the PRC-163 and meets STANAG 4607 and NATO JREAP standards for coalition interoperability. The TW-KM gateway enables mixed-fleet networks with other MANET platforms.
Peruvian special forces operate in three extreme terrain zones: Amazon jungle (especially the VRAEM), the Andean mountain range, and the northern desert coast. Conventional systems — HF radios, fixed repeaters, TETRA — fail in these conditions due to infrastructure dependency and limited coverage in vertical terrain. TrellisWare TSM eliminates these constraints: the network moves with the troops, drone ISR video streams in real time to the command post, and command can exercise C2 from any node in the mesh, with no fixed repeaters required.

Peru's Army and Navy, under the DS 017-2017-DE defense modernization framework and US bilateral cooperation programs (USSOUTHCOM), prioritize tactical communications systems interoperable with allied standards. TrellisWare is export-certified under EAR/ITAR to allied countries in LATAM, and Emar Systems manages the export license process with DDTC for Peruvian institutional customers.
