Zetron Analog Bridge Interoperability Gateway for Analog and Digital P25/DMR Networks
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Zetron Analog Bridge is the interoperability gateway designed for agencies that have invested in P25 or DMR Tier III digital trunk network infrastructure but maintain a fleet of conventional analog radios — in vehicles, fixed facilities, and support personnel — whose replacement would represent a prohibitive cost, and who need these analog radios to communicate with digital network users without modifying either group of equipment.
The gateway implements up to 16 simultaneous analog-to-digital conversion channels in each 1U rack unit, with each channel independently configured for a specific talk group: channel 1 can convert P25 trunking talk group 1 to analog VHF repeater channel 1, while channel 2 converts the DMR supervision group to analog UHF repeater channel 5, all operating simultaneously without cross-interference.
The conversion process maintains audio quality via IMBE/AMBE+ transcoding to 4 kHz full-band audio, without the acoustic degradation effect that characterizes low-cost gateways that use compression codecs inadequate for emergency use. Conversion latency is under 30 milliseconds, imperceptible to users in real-time voice communications and compatible with P25 RFSS trunking signaling without perceptible delay.
