Simoco SDP560 — DMR ATEX Zone 1/Div 1 Portable Radio for Explosive Environments
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Simoco SDP560 is the portable radio for operators in environments with potentially explosive atmospheres — ATEX Zone 1 Gas (Directive 2014/34/EU) and IECEx Zone 1 Gas — where communications equipment must be intrinsically safe certified as a site entry condition. Zone 1 certification (not just Zone 2) means the radio can operate in areas where flammable gas presence is likely during normal operation, not just under failure conditions.
The SDP560's intrinsically safe design limits available electrical energy in the radio's circuits and surfaces to levels that cannot ignite the most sensitive explosive mixture in the certified working environment.
The integrated GPS module allows the real-time personnel management system (RTLS) to track each operator's position within the plant or mine with 30-second updates via the DMR data system. The SDP560's NFC function allows operators to register their presence at safety checkpoints by simply bringing the radio near the installed NFC reader.
