Technical overview
Rolatube's 3-meter mast is the individual elevation node for the operator working separated from the squad who cannot carry the 4m mast in an assault pack. Packed, it measures just 30 centimeters and weighs 1.2 kg — fits in a MOLLE leg pouch, on the side panel of a recon pack, or in a tactical cargo pocket, without impacting the operator's mobility or tactical silhouette.
In individual communications, the difference between an antenna at operator height and the same antenna 3 meters above ground can mean the difference between having or not having a link to the squad relay in terrain with dense vegetation or buildings. The 3m mast elevates the BreadCrumb LynX or personal radio antenna (PRC-152, Harris RF-7800) above most field obstacles — mud walls, hedges, trenches, vehicles — opening line of sight to the relay node without the operator having to expose themselves.
The 3.5 kg tip load capacity covers all antenna equipment an individual operator carries: a LynX node (0.9 kg) plus a VHF/UHF omnidirectional antenna (0.3-0.6 kg) leaves ample safety margin. The same CFRP self-stiffening mechanism used across the entire Rolatube family provides immediate structural rigidity upon releasing the mast: no levers, no screws, no locks — deployment time is approximately 10 seconds, reusable within the same combat cycle.
