Technical overview
The MORAD Vehicle HF Station is the high-power vehicle communications platform designed to transform any tactical vehicle into a completely autonomous mobile command post, capable of maintaining simultaneous communications on long-range HF, tactical VHF, and satellite UHF without needing a dedicated communications vehicle separate from the command vehicle.
The multiband transceiver continuously covers 1.6 to 512 MHz with 100 W output in HF and 50 W in VHF/UHF, feeding multiple vehicle antennas through an internal splitter that eliminates manual antenna changes between bands. The ALE MIL-STD-188-141C modem scans up to 400 pre-configured frequencies and establishes the optimal link in under 15 seconds, while the 64 kbps data modem allows transmitting tactical messages, C2 forms, and low-resolution images over the established HF link. The 1-second-response automatic antenna tuner adjusts the impedance of any vehicle antenna — whip, discone, broadband — for maximum radiated efficiency at any selected frequency.
The integrated multiband network manager administers up to 8 simultaneous communication networks assigned to predefined roles — Commander, G2/S2 Intelligence, G3/S3 Operations, Logistics, Fire Support, Air Coordination — distributing each network's traffic to the corresponding operator without channel cross-talk. The 7-inch touch-screen control interface installed in the vehicle console allows the communications operator to manage all networks, frequencies, and modes from a single control point.
