MORAD HF Manpack V2 Second-Generation Portable Shortwave HF Radio for Long-Range Communications
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The MORAD HF Manpack V2 is the second generation of the portable shortwave HF radio designed for missions requiring voice and data communications at distances of hundreds or thousands of kilometers without depending on satellites, repeaters, or terrestrial network infrastructure — the last resilience layer in the communications plan for any operation in degraded or anti-access environments.
The equipment operates in the full HF band from 1.6 to 30 MHz with 20 W PEP output power in SSB and 10 W in AM/CW/FSK, sufficient to achieve ionospheric distances of 500 to 3,000 km depending on propagation conditions. The ALE (Automatic Link Establishment) modem certified to MIL-STD-188-141C and STANAG 4538 automatically scans up to 200 pre-configured frequencies and establishes the link at the best propagation frequency in under 10 seconds, without the operator needing HF propagation knowledge to establish communication.
The ECCM frequency hopping function with over 100 hops per second and configurable cryptographic key provides resistance to interception and directed jamming of communications. The integrated AES-256 voice and data encryption eliminates the need for an additional external vocoder, reducing the weight and complexity of the operator's portable equipment on long-range missions.
