INVISIO DSC Dual Sensor Chip Headset with Impulse Noise Reduction for Artillery and Explosive Ordnance
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The INVISIO DSC is the tactical headset with Dual Sensor Chip (DSC) technology designed for the artilleryman and explosive ordnance operator exposed to the blast overpressure from their own munitions detonation — the pressure spike that military doctrine classifies as a cumulative chronic hearing damage hazard even with conventional earplugs — who simultaneously need to hear fire commands, coordination communications, and ambient alert signals between shots without removing the headset.
DSC technology uses two pressure sensors rather than one: the external sensor measures blast overpressure at the ear cup in real time, and the internal sensor measures pressure inside the sealed ear canal. The DSC processor calculates the difference between both measurements in each 500 kHz sampling cycle, distinguishing between normal-band voice sound (low difference) and blast overpressure from a shot (high difference with extremely abrupt rise) in under 2 microseconds, without the delay of simple pressure threshold detection systems that have already let the pressure peak pass when they activate attenuation.
Adaptive attenuation operates in a 60 dB dynamic range: in normal conversation mode the headset functions as a high-gain ambient microphone to hear low-voice command indications; in firing mode it activates maximum attenuation in the cycle after DSC detection, returning to conversation mode in 1.5 seconds to receive the next fire command. The TNI-TS-MIL-D10 22 certificate (Dutch military hearing standard, equivalent to STANAG 4695) validates blast overpressure reduction at the ear to levels below the permanent hearing damage threshold for cumulative exposure of 1000 shots per year.
