Galvion
Galvion E.D.G. — Soldier power management system
Technical specifications
Technical overview
Galvion's E.D.G. system solves the critical problem facing the 21st-century soldier: the proliferation of incompatible individual batteries a modern combatant must carry and manage for NVG, tactical radio, ATAK tablet, laser designator, and biometric sensors. A well-equipped special forces operator may need 8+ batteries in 6 different formats for a 72-hour operation — dead weight of up to 3 kg of batteries, plus the risk of losing communications due to a single cell failure in the field.
The E.D.G. centralizes power distribution in a single charging hub that converts any compatible universal battery (including military BA-5590 and BA-2590 batteries) into regulated power for all soldier devices. A single battery bank — optimized for mission weight — powers the complete suite, with configurable charge prioritization to ensure communications and night vision have power before auxiliary systems.
The E.D.G.'s integrated data architecture adds real-time charge status monitoring of all devices through the ATAK tablet, allowing command to know the power endurance of each team member — critical for rotation planning and recharge points in long-duration missions.
