Special forces soldiers in the 2020s are no longer individual combatants with a rifle and a radio. They are mobile network nodes: networked helmet camera (Mohoc), Gen 3 night vision (Theon/INVISIO), MANET radio (TrellisWare TW-950), AHR headset (INVISIO), laser designator (PEQ-15), ATAK device (ruggedized Android tablet), and often biometric telemetry sensors. That equipment, at best efficiency, consumes 25-45 Wh per 8-hour mission. Distributing that energy across devices with different voltages, charging protocols, and form factors was an unsolved problem — until E.D.G.
E.D.G. organizes in four functions:
Scavenge: The hub accepts energy from multiple simultaneous sources — primary operator battery (LFP 14.4V or Li-Ion 10.8V), deployable solar panel (PowerFilm 10W), foldable manual generator, and vehicle battery via NATO 24V connector. Automatic source switching with no interruption.
Charge: Regulated output: USB-A 5V (2x), USB-C PD 20W (1x), 12V auxiliary for HF radio, NVG active-mode power. All devices charge simultaneously without competing for the source.
Monitor: E.D.G. monitor module transmits battery state (SoC, temperature, available cycles), per-channel consumption, and remaining autonomy prediction to the operator's ATAK device. The platoon leader sees each operator's energy level from their tablet — without asking verbally, without interrupting the operation.
Plan: E.D.G. ATAK app calculates optimal battery configuration and reserve batteries needed based on mission profile (duration, radio communication density, expected temperature).
Caiman: Special operations reference for highest-risk operations. MICH High-Cut profile — compatible with INVISIO M2 and most NVG systems. NIJ IIIA + STANAG 2920 fragmentation protection. ARC/ITAR rail system — full accessory compatibility with western special forces ecosystem.
Hellbender UL: 20% less weight than Caiman at equal NIJ IIIA protection. For infiltration operators at high speeds — HALO/HAHO jumps, kayak, tactical climbing — where every gram on the head affects balance and fatigue.
Batlskin Jaw: Mandible protection integrates with all Batlskin models via side rail, removable during operation, V50 >600 m/s in full configuration.
Peruvian Army BICAL/BRISOF: Requirements include NIJ IIIA protection, SOPMOD rail compatibility, and 72-hour energy management for VRAEM operations. Galvion Batlskin Caiman + E.D.G. meet these requirements. EMAR SYSTEMS manages EAR/ITAR process (Batlskin is USML Cat. XIV armor, E.D.G. is EAR99).
PNP DIROES/GOES/USE: Galvion's civilian supply chain — without the more restrictive ITAR requirements of USSOCOM military helmets — simplifies procurement for PNP under MININTER procedures.
EMAR SYSTEMS maintains Lima stock of Batlskin Fit Kit foam sets and E.D.G. LFP batteries (500-cycle life, tool-free replacement), and provides maintenance training for institutional technical personnel.
