Technical overview
The Eventide NexGen is the digital communications recording system designed for emergency operations centers, police dispatch, and tactical command centers that must capture, index, and forensically reproduce every voice and data communication passing through their radio, telephony, and VoIP channels — including wide-area P25 trunking networks where inter-agency interoperability is the most demanding legal requirement.
The system records 16 audio channels in parallel without frame loss, even when all channels transmit simultaneously during a large-scale incident. The integrated ISSI (Inter-RF Subsystem Interface) and CSSI (Console Subsystem Interface) gateway allows the NexGen to capture traffic from P25 networks from multiple manufacturers — Motorola, Harris, Kenwood — without analog interfaces or external converters, ensuring the recording is a bit-for-bit copy of the original digital audio with full forensic fidelity.
The real-time playback during active capture function — 'instant recall' — allows the dispatch supervisor to replay the last 30 seconds of any channel with a single click while recording continues uninterrupted across all channels, eliminating the need to pause capture or extract tapes to verify recent communications. RAID-6 storage with double parity tolerates simultaneous failure of two disks without data loss, and recordings are exported in formats admissible as evidence in judicial proceedings (WAV with custody chain metadata, GPS timestamps, and SHA-256 digital signature).
