Cohu
Cohu Quasar XP — PTZ perimeter surveillance camera
Technical specifications
Technical overview
Cohu's Quasar XP is a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) platform designed for the most demanding segment of perimeter surveillance: facilities where 24/7 continuous operation, extreme environmental conditions, and moving target tracking precision are non-negotiable requirements.
The camera operates in day profile (30x optics, 4K resolution) and night profile (640x480 LWIR thermal sensor with continuous NUC) in the same sealed enclosure. The high-precision PTZ controller keeps a moving human target in the center of the frame up to 1,000 meters without operator intervention, with panning speed up to 120°/second for high-speed threat coverage across extended perimeters.
In the context of Peruvian critical infrastructure — SEIN electrical substations, GAS+Camisea facilities, Callao and Paita ports, and Andean mining sites — the Quasar XP delivers the ability to cover 300+ meter perimeter sectors with a single motorized system replacing multiple fixed cameras, reducing cabling infrastructure and maintenance costs without sacrificing coverage.
