Cohu Ocelot 4MP 30x IP PTZ Camera for Critical Infrastructure Perimeter Surveillance with Integrated Analytics
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Cohu Ocelot IP PTZ is the surveillance camera designed for the perimeter security operator of a military base, electrical substation, or oil facility who needs to confirm whether the object detected by the perimeter radar at 1200 m is a person, vehicle, or animal before dispatching a response team, because the cost of a false positive response — operational time, fuel, team risk — justifies a long-range camera instead of multiple short-range cameras.
The 30x optical zoom with focal range of 4.3 to 129 mm, equivalent to 77 to 2310 mm focal length in 35 mm film format, delivers sufficient angular resolution for the built-in analytics system to automatically classify the detected object as a person, light vehicle, or heavy vehicle at distances of up to 1500 m, generating a categorized alarm informing the operator of the intrusion type before they manually orient the camera.
The video analytics embedded in the camera's own processor — without requiring an external analytics server — executes real-time algorithms for zone intrusion detection, virtual line crossing, defined area loitering, and abandoned object detection, with object classification distinguishing persons from vehicles from large animals with a false positive rate below 2% under daytime lighting conditions, drastically reducing the operator's attention load in installations with large perimeters where continuously monitoring dozens of cameras is not feasible.
