Bitstream
Bitstream WAN Optimizer Link Accelerator for Tactical Networks
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Bitstream WAN Optimizer is the network accelerator designed specifically for the adverse connectivity conditions of military tactical environments, where SATCOM, HF, and microwave satellite links present high latency, limited bandwidth, and variable packet loss.
The adaptive compression engine analyzes traffic in real time and applies compression algorithms optimized by data type: H.264 for ISR video, AMR for voice, and LZ4 for sensor data and telemetry. Effective bandwidth reduction ranges from 40% to 70% depending on traffic type, allowing more information to be transmitted over the same link.
The 8-level QoS engine guarantees that critical command voice and video traffic always has guaranteed bandwidth, even during link saturation. The 30% packet loss tolerance via adaptive FEC (Forward Error Correction) keeps communications operational in link degradation conditions that would normally cut VoIP and video transmissions.
