Technical overview
The Barrett BCS-400 is the reference HF/VHF communications system for defense, diplomacy and disaster management in areas without cellular or satellite coverage. Its modular architecture allows combining the BCC-400 control unit with 50W or 125W amplifiers, HF data modem, and adaptive antennas to create IP-over-HF networks with dispersed nodes more than 5,000km apart.
The ALE-4G (Automatic Link Establishment 4G) protocol continuously analyzes the ionosphere and automatically selects the optimal HF channel from 100 programmable frequencies in under 3 seconds, without operator intervention. This maintains voice and data communications under varying propagation conditions without requiring end-user HF technical knowledge.
Hardware-integrated AES-256 encryption (CTR-128 mode) secures voice and data without external devices. ECCM (Electronic Counter-CounterMeasures) mode incorporates adaptive frequency hopping for jamming resistance. The integrated data modem supports STANAG 5066 protocols for encrypted email, GPS positioning and file exchange over HF link at 1.2 to 19.2 kbps speeds.
