TW Ghost 881 — Sub-50g Airborne TSM Node
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The TW Ghost 881 is TrellisWare's answer to the requirement of bringing TSM mesh network capability to small-format UAS platforms: less than 50 grams, low power consumption, and the full TSM-X protocol to transparently integrate into the same IP network operating on the ground. With the Ghost 881 installed on a small-format UAS, the drone is not just an observation platform — it is an active node of the tactical mesh network that retransmits traffic between ground teams separated by terrain obstacles.
In urban combat operations, a UAS with Ghost 881 flying at 50-100 meters altitude acts as a temporary aerial relay: teams without direct line of sight between them (separated by buildings, walls, or rugged terrain) maintain continuous IP connectivity through the airborne node. The relay is transparent to applications: ATAK systems, video streams, and PTT voice communications don't need to know that traffic passes through the UAS — the TSM-X network manages routing automatically.
