Technical overview
CHAOS Mobile is the vehicular version of TrellisWare's TSM-X protocol, designed to mount on armored vehicles, tactical trucks, and command platforms as a high-power mesh node. While the TW-950 portable operates at the soldier level with an integrated antenna, the CHAOS transmits at higher power with a roof-mounted vehicular antenna, extending the TSM-X network coverage radius to brigade-scale distances — several kilometers between vehicular nodes even in mountainous terrain.
IP interoperability is transparent: the CHAOS presents a GigE Ethernet interface to the vehicle interior, where the C2 system simply sees an IP network. Any Ethernet-equipped device — situational awareness tablet, sensor fusion server, fire control system — integrates directly without modifications. The vehicular TSM-X network and the dismounted soldiers' TSM-X network are the same logical IP network, allowing the vehicle commander to see exactly the same command display as the dismounted operator.
