Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Theon Sensors Lynx II is the long-range thermal observation binocular designed for forward observation posts, artillery, and reconnaissance teams requiring target identification at tactical distances of 4-8 km in conditions of total darkness, fog, and smoke.
The 1280x1024 pixel LWIR sensor with 12 µm pitch and NETD below 20 mK represents the highest resolution available in the portable thermal binocular category, providing images with sufficient detail to identify vehicle type at 4 km and human silhouette at 8 km according to the Johnson criterion. The continuous 6x to 18x optical zoom with independent diopter adjustment per eye allows rapid adaptation to targets at different distances.
The integrated 1550 nm Class 1 M laser rangefinder measures distances from 50 to 5,000 meters with ±5 meter accuracy and automatically transmits the measurement to the integrated GPS receiver to calculate target coordinates. The 3-axis digital compass with inclinometer allows azimuth and elevation calculation for transmitting fire data to artillery units or JTAC.
