Technical overview
The Polo Marconi MiniLink is the miniaturized tactical data link terminal designed to integrate into Class 2 and 3 UAV platforms, light manned aircraft, and airborne systems where weight, volume, and power consumption restrictions are critical to mission endurance and performance.
The terminal operates in the military tactical UHF bands of 225-400 MHz and SATCOM X-band (8-12 GHz), providing data communications of up to 2 Mbps line of sight and up to 512 kbps via satellite with latency below 600 ms. Automatic switching between UHF and SATCOM upon loss of direct link guarantees continuity of telemetry and ISR video communications throughout the mission.
End-to-end AES-256 encryption with NATO STANAG key management protects both the control link and payload data stream. Power consumption of only 8W in transmit and 3W in receive allows efficient integration into energy budgets of platforms with small-capacity batteries. The 380-gram weight including the dual-band antenna allows installation in 5 kg UAVs without significant impact on endurance.
