Technical specifications
Technical overview
The MORAD MIMO Directional Array is the antenna system designed for the stationary or semi-stationary C4ISR command post that needs a high-capacity backhaul link to a tactical network node at 30 or 40 km, where the standard omnidirectional antenna does not deliver sufficient gain for the required throughput and the operator does not have time or tools to install a conventional high-gain antenna.
The four-element architecture with two orthogonal polarizations per element allows the system to operate as a full 4x4 MIMO array when paired with compatible MIMO radios, doubling the effective link throughput without increasing transmit power or spectral bandwidth, through spatial multiplexing that transmits four independent data streams on the same frequency channel.
Side-lobe rejection greater than 20 dB relative to the main lobe drastically reduces lateral interference pickup and emissions toward unwanted directions, which is critical in electronic warfare environments where the adversary may be attempting to detect or jam the link: the array's high directivity not only improves link performance but reduces the electronic signature of the command post in directions not pointing to the network node.
