IEC 61968/61970 CIM integration gateway connecting heterogeneous SCADA, EMS, DMS, and GIS systems via an SOA service bus. Translates legacy data models (DNP3, IEC 60870, Modbus) to IEC CIM standard without modifying existing systems.

Kalkitech PRIME — IEC 61968/61970 Interoperability Gateway for Substations
Technical specifications
Technical overview
Kalkitech PRIME is the interoperability middleware for electric system operators facing the classic problem of system fragmentation: SCADA from one vendor, EMS from another, GIS from a third, and multiple substations with legacy protocols that none of the upper systems speak natively. PRIME resolves this by acting as a SOA hub that exposes all electric system assets as normalized IEC CIM services, accessible by any application that speaks XML/SOAP or REST.
PRIME's model transformation engine translates in real time legacy protocol messages — DNP3 frames, IEC 60870-5-101/104 messages, Modbus registers — to the IEC CIM 14/15/16 object model, preserving electrical semantics. This transformation is bidirectional: control commands generated in the EMS or DMS are translated back to each IED or RTU's native protocol without appreciable latency.
For Peru's transmission and distribution companies, PRIME eliminates the need to replace functional SCADA systems just to integrate them with new analytics or DMS applications.
