Fischer Connectors LDS — Submersible Connector for Diving and EOD Underwater Operations
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Fischer Connectors LDS (Light Duty Submersible) is the connector for combat diving and underwater explosive ordnance disposal (submarine EOD) equipment where the connector is the most frequent critical failure point. The LDS is specifically designed to be manipulated with diving gloves up to 5mm thick, with a low-force quarter-turn coupling mechanism that requires no tools and can be completed with one hand underwater.
The LDS sealing uses three independent barriers: the NBR toroidal ring interface seal at coupling, a secondary seal on the cable that maintains waterproofing if the connector decouples underwater, and epoxy resin encapsulation of each contact pin.
For the Peruvian Navy's combat diving units (FOES-Buzos de Combate) and the Army's underwater explosive device disposal teams, the LDS is the reference connector for diving communication equipment, underwater propulsion units, and mine detection systems.
