Cohu WideView HD Wide-Area Surveillance System with 180-Degree Multi-Sensor Mosaic and Persistent Target Tracking for Large-Scale Perimeters

Technical overview
The Cohu WideView HD is the wide-area surveillance system designed to cover large-scale perimeters — a 400-meter-side military base, an electrical substation with multiple accesses, an industrial port with a 200-meter dock — where neither conventional PTZ cameras nor wide-angle fixed cameras provide the combination of full angular coverage and identification resolution at distance required by security supervision with reduced personnel.
The WideView system integrates a 4-camera array of 4K IP cameras (3840×2160 pixels) with 25mm lenses oriented in 45° arcs in a single 62 cm length IP66-sealed aluminum housing, processed in real time by the integrated mosaic fusion processor that combines them into a 180° panoramic image of equivalent 15360×2160 pixels — enough resolution to identify vehicle model at 120 meters and detect people at 500 meters distance in the full panorama without moving any camera. The security operator can apply 8× digital zoom on any zone of the 180° panorama from the management station without the coverage of other zones being interrupted — unlike a PTZ camera that stops covering the unaimed zone when zooming on a specific area.
The persistent target tracking module maintains the numerical ID of each detected moving object in the panorama throughout its trajectory across the field of view — including the transition between the fields of the 4 individual cameras — without losing target tracking when it crosses the boundary from one camera to another. The virtual intrusion alert system allows the operator to define up to 32 sensitive zone polygons on the panoramic mosaic, generating automatic alerts when a target crosses a defined polygon without the operator needing to actively monitor the image.
