Long-range HF radio for remote regions and critical operations
Applied in sectors
Codan is the Australian reference manufacturer of HF (3–30 MHz) radio communication systems for remote-area operations, with over 60 years of experience and presence in more than 150 countries. Its MIL-STD-188-141B/C ALE (Automatic Link Establishment) technology and IP-over-HF data transmission capability maintain voice and data links in regions where cellular, satellite, and VHF/UHF infrastructure is inaccessible or non-existent.
The Codan product family covers the main tactical and mission-critical needs: the Sentry H is the reference vehicular and base HF radio platform for armed forces and public safety, with 150 W PEP power, automatic ALE, AES-256 voice encryption, and IP data capability up to 9.6 kbps. The Envoy M is the 20 W portable HF terminal for foot operations in uncovered zones. The NVIS (Near Vertical Incidence Skywave) system enables 50–500 km regional communication from a single station without repeaters. The HF IP Gateway modem connects HF networks to TCP/IP, enabling email, VOIP, and SCADA data over the HF link.
For Peru, HF radio is the natural solution for three critical scenarios: (1) Amazon jungle regions of VRAEM and Loreto without reliable cellular or satellite coverage; (2) Border surveillance with Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador in topography preventing VHF/UHF; (3) Operational continuity in disasters (earthquakes, landslides, floods) when civil communications infrastructure collapses. Peru's Navy and Army already operate HF systems in these zones; upgrading to Codan Sentry H adds automatic ALE, encryption, and IP data on existing HF infrastructure.
