Theon Hydra Quad Quadruple Night Vision System for High-Mobility Operations
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Theon Hydra Quad is the fourth-generation quadruple night vision system designed for operators who need maximum spatial situational awareness in total darkness environments: helicopter pilots in MEDEVAC and insertion operations, tactical vehicle drivers in total blackout conditions, and special forces operators on irregular mountain terrain where depth and distance estimation is critical for survival.
The system mounts four second-generation+ image intensifier tubes in quadruple (2×2) configuration, providing a 97° horizontal field of view versus the 40° of standard monocular goggles — more than double — and real 3D stereoscopic vision through the 63 mm separation between left and right tube pairs that replicates human interpupillary distance. The result is complete spatial awareness without the lateral blind spots that make fast navigation dangerous with narrow-field NVGs.
The total system weight of 980 grams with batteries included, distributed in the head-mounted goggle with center of gravity designed to minimize the overturning moment and reduce cervical fatigue during extended night flight missions, makes it the lightest quadruple system on the market for military helicopter applications. Compatibility with ANVIS-9, HGU-56P helmets and with the Galvion Batlskin Viper ballistic helmet via J-Arm adapter makes it interoperable with the standard equipment of major air forces and special operations forces.
