Technical specifications
Technical overview
The Simoco SWM 4000 is the IoT telemetry module designed to leverage existing DMR Tier II and Tier III radio networks — both those deployed in critical infrastructure and public safety trunk networks — as a communication channel for industrial sensor data, without needing to deploy new cellular or dedicated data networks in environments where DMR coverage is already guaranteed.
The module accepts up to 8 signal inputs — 4 digital 0/5V for dry contact sensors for level, presence, and alarm, and 4 analog 4-20 mA for pressure, temperature, and flow measurements — and transmits values periodically or by event over any DMR Tier II data channel or data slot integrated in a Tier III network. Standby consumption is 0.8 mA, allowing operation with a 4,000 mAh lithium battery for over 18 months in transmission cycles every 15 minutes.
The integrated GPS receiver includes the module's position in each data frame, turning the SWM 4000 into an asset and vehicle tracker that transmits position and telemetry simultaneously over the same shared DMR voice channel without interfering with voice communications. End-to-end AES-256 data encryption, compatible with standard Simoco DMR radio encryption, guarantees that process and position data are not accessible by third parties with access to the radio network.
