BreadCrumb Sparrow — Compact Outdoor Kinetic Mesh Node
Technical specifications
Technical overview
The BreadCrumb Sparrow is Rajant's Kinetic Mesh node designed to mount directly on heavy vehicles, industrial machinery, and unmanned aerial platforms. Its compact profile and transmission power of up to 29 dBm per radio make it the ideal node for bridging the space between moving machinery and PE or Peregrine infrastructure nodes installed at fixed positions.
In open-pit mining operations, the Sparrow bolts directly onto the dump truck or excavator structure — no vehicle modifications beyond mounting and power connection. The InstaMesh protocol manages coverage transitions between infrastructure nodes as the vehicle traverses the pit: the driver never experiences interruptions because switching occurs in less than 10 ms, and all critical systems (dispatch, engine telemetry, safety video) maintain continuous connectivity.
For UAV and inspection drone applications, the Sparrow in lightweight configuration provides the high-capacity bidirectional data link that most drone control radios don't offer: the same IP network as the ground vehicle extends to the drone through the Sparrow node, enabling real-time video streaming to the command post without a dedicated satellite link.
