Technical overview
The Polo Marconi UHF Tactical Repeater is the coverage extension node designed for the operational scenario where no pre-established communications infrastructure exists — unit advances in mountainous terrain, stabilization operations in remote rural areas, emergency response in disaster-affected areas — and where the time to emplace a conventional repeater with generator, mast, coaxial cable, and installation equipment exceeds the available tactical opportunity window.
The system integrates in a single 18 kg transport case all components needed for a 72-hour autonomous UHF coverage extension: the 25W UHF transceiver, 80W solar panel, 100Ah LiFePO4 battery, MPPT charge controller, 3.5m telescoping mast, and 3 dBi omnidirectional antenna — deployable by a single person without tools in under 10 minutes on any surface type.
The AES-256 encryption chipset operates at the RF physical layer prior to FM/AM modulation, ensuring communications between the repeater and field terminals are end-to-end encrypted without requiring terminals with built-in encryption — any conventional UHF radio can use the repeater for encrypted communications if the synchronous session key is loaded via crypto-variable fill (FILL). The 40 km range between repeater nodes in line-of-sight conditions allows building long-range relay chains with multiple nodes for wide-area operations.
