Technical overview
The Fischer Connectors Subsea Series is the connector family designed for defense systems operating in the most hostile environment of the modern battlefield: ocean depths, where hydrostatic pressure at 6,000 meters equals 600 bar, temperature is 2°C, seawater is highly corrosive, and access for maintenance is practically impossible without specialized high-cost resources.
The grade 23 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) housing provides maximum resistance to marine corrosion and galvanic corrosion on contact with the stainless steel chassis of ROVs and AUVs, without mechanical degradation in continuous seawater exposure during the system's operational life. The 99.9% purity 24K gold contacts minimize contact resistance and eliminate oxide formation that would degrade signal in high-humidity and variable-temperature environments.
The bayonet coupling mechanism with quarter-turn locking ring allows connection and disconnection by divers wearing 5 mm neoprene gloves in zero visibility, with tactile confirmation of complete coupling via stainless steel locking ring. Subsea series models are available in 2 to 32 contact configurations with versions for analog signal, high-speed digital signal up to 10 Gbps, single-mode fiber optic, and power conduction up to 50 A.
