Technical overview
The Drones Latam VTOL-ISR Pro is the long-endurance fixed-wing ISR platform designed to overcome the fundamental limitation of multirotor UAVs for reconnaissance and intelligence missions at company or brigade level: multirotors have 20-40 minute endurance that doesn't allow covering a company's area of operations (5-10 km²) with sufficient target dwell time for intelligence analysis — the VTOL-ISR Pro takes off vertically from a 3×3 meter clearing like a multirotor, transitions to fixed-wing in 35 seconds, and maintains 120 km/h cruise speed for 90 minutes total endurance, covering a brigade's area with real dwell time over the target.
The 2-axis stabilized gimbal with electronic vibration cancellation simultaneously carries the 30× optical zoom EO sensor with 1/2.3" 12 MP sensor for vehicle and person identification at 1.5 km, and the 640×480 pixel uncooled LWIR sensor with 50 mK NETD for thermal detection of people, hot vehicles, and camp activity in total darkness. The operator switches between EO and IR channels from the GCS without changing the platform in flight, and can record both channels simultaneously on the internal 256 GB microSD card with AES-256 encryption.
The command and control system operates in the Peruvian aeronautical frequency band enabled for BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations with a 15 km range AES-256 encrypted data link and encrypted telemetry uplink at 2 Hz — sufficient to maintain the GCS-UAV axis during brigade area maneuvers. The VTOL-ISR Pro operates in autonomous programmed route mode with GPS waypoints in the GCS, automatically returns to launch point when battery reaches 20% reserve, and can recover vertically in the same 3×3 meter launch clearing without capture net or landing strip.
